The mandolin is strung the same as a violin but has frets and is plucked and strummed with a pick rather than relying on a bow. There are usually 8 strings on the mandolin tuned in unison by groups of two. If you have experience with violin, mandolin will be a great way to expand your horizons.
At Boise Music Lessons, our mandolin players get a healthy dose of:
- Individual notes and chord styles
- Emphasis on understanding and communicating keys
Live performance skills
As with all instruments, at your mandolin lesson we’ll provide a foundation of note reading, functional theory, ear training, and musical collaboration and communication.
No instrument? No problem! Check out our Mandolin Buyer’s Guide for tips on finding an instrument that is right for you!
